Description
As I investigated the moving pink flowers on a large bush, a Bell Miner appeared from the greenery to enjoy the flower pollen. Bell Miners, also known as Bellbirds, are honeyeaters who live in large social groups in open eucalypt forests and woodlands with a dense understorey in eastern and south eastern Australia, as far south as Melbourne in Victoria. More often heard than seen, they are identified by their characteristic bell-like 'tink'. The flower is a cultivated hybrid grevillea called Grevillea Canberra Gem and is a member of the Proteaceae family of Australian flowering plants.
