Description
Due to their amazing difference in color, for many years the male and female eclectus parrots were thought to be two different species. The male is mostly bright emerald green, whereas the female is mostly bright red and bluish purple. The Australian eclectus parrot is the largest of the subspecies and is found in the far northeast on the Cape York Peninsula.
