Artist's Description

This beautiful young female koala is resting after her feed of eucalypt leaves. The koala is an Australian marsupial and is not related to the bear. It inhabits woodland areas in eastern and southern Australia where it feeds almost exclusively on eucalypt leaves. In the colder south, the koalas are larger, darker and with thicker fur than their northern cousins. An interesting feature is the fur on the koala's bottom which is thicker to form a cushion for added comfort while sitting in the fork of a tree.

About Margaret Saheed

Margaret Saheed

While photography has always been a passion, my painting adventure began after visiting a wildlife art exhibition in Melbourne, Australia. Exploring ways to create colorful contemporary images featuring animals, flowers and other elements of nature was a new venture for me. Now I am studying the exciting creation of digital paintings. Having graduated from Melbourne University with a BA(Hons) specialising in international relations, I am interested in portraying the world's exotic species. My aim is to capture their unique personalities and hope they will inspire you to learn more about wildlife and conservation. Images Copyright 2024 Margaret Saheed. All Rights Reserved.
