Description
Veiled Chameleons (Chamaeleo calyptratus) are arboreal lizards native to greener areas of the Arabian Penisula from Saudi Arabia to Yemen. As well as having binocular vision, chameleons can move their eyes independently. While they do eat leaves and blossoms, their preference is insects which they catch on their sticky tongues which they can quickly thrust out to catch their prey. They have the ability to change color and the color change often signifies their emotional state, but when at rest it can serve as a camouflage by blending in with their surroundings.
