Description
A beautiful flower provides a snack for a striped Australian bee. Pigface (Carpobrotus rossii) is a ground cover plant with succulent fleshy leaves, native to southern Australia, and found on coastal sand dunes and cliffs. It is also known as karkalla and ice plant, and is popular with Australian bees for the pollen produced on spectacular pink flowers.
